Some agencies only offer non-professional staff (Housekeepers or Resident Care Attendants), but Shylo is a full service home care agency with every level of professional and non-professional health care staff available.

Most people’s health fluctuates over time, and on occasion you may temporarily require a higher level of home care support.

With Shylo you never need to worry about calling different companies as your needs change; we offer the peace of mind knowing you can rely on one familiar and reputable agency to meet all of your home healthcare needs.

EMPLOYEES ARE SCREENED

Shylo thoroughly screens all potential employees during the hiring process; we require multiple personal and work-related references, a recent criminal record check and original certificates as evidence of education.

We carry $5M Liability Insurance, BC Workman’s Compensation Insurance and we are proud to provide our employees with fair wages and benefits, and a safe and supportive work environment.

REGISTERED NURSES

In the community, RNs are most commonly requested for Flu Clinics, Wound Care, IV Therapy or Palliative Care. Many of our RNs also work as relief staff for local residential care facilities, which rely on Shylo for competent back-up staffing. RNs typically have three to five years of training through a college or university and hold a license in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia.

Palliative Care Nurses work in collaboration with other health providers (such as Physicians, Social Workers, or Chaplains) to anticipate and meet the needs of the patient and family facing a terminal illness. By providing expert management of pain and other symptoms combined with compassionate listening and counseling skills, hospice and palliative nurses promote the highest quality of life for the patient and family.
